This position is for a UNIX Systems Administrator with an engineering services company location in Vicksburg, MS. Will be responsible for setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Additional duties will include: Interacting with users and evaluates vendor products; making recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinating installation and providing backup recovery; and developing and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Requirements and Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of professional experience with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Must pass a Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening, and must follow all Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program Requirements; Must have a valid Driver?s license with an acceptable driving record; Understanding of UNIX, system/server design, and management and configuration aspects of UNIX equipment; Current DoD 8570 Certification IAT Level II, Security Plus or higher; Strong organizational skills; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Strong team player with ability to work in a team and as individual contributor; Ability to work independently with minimum guidance and supervision; Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a rapidly evolving environment; Knowledge of Sun Enterprise equipment and products. Desired Skills: System administration and configuration skills for COTS products such as Solaris Zones, ZFS, VERITAS Volume Manager, Apache, BEA WebLogic and Oracle; Strong systems administration background in the UNIX area, especially Solaris 8 onwards; In depth, knowledge of UNIX shell scripting. Must be able to troubleshoot all aspects of Unix OS including storage and network connectivity.Familiarity with fiber channel and storage area networking. Day to day system and application administration as well as project related tasks. SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to maintain a clearance at the SECRET level.
