          Description:WAPT, a Hearst owned ABC affiliate in Jackson, MS, has an opening for an Assistant News Director. We’re searching for a dynamic newsroom leader to oversee day to day operation of the news organization.

          Our company has a reputation for grooming future News Directors. Need someone who can help focus our shows and differentiate us from the competition.
          Requirements:Job requirements:

          •Have excellent news judgment

          •Be able to lead a young group of producers

          •Lead breaking news coverage

          •Lead severe weather coverage

          •Lead special event/project coverage

          •Manage daily coverage

          •Lead web coverage

          •Be ready to work a flexible schedule

          •Manage future assignments with assignment desk

          •Develop contacts and sources on beat coverage

          •Work with management team on strategic plan

          •Be able to multi-task under deadline pressure

          •Be accountable for quality control on product

          •Be a positive influence on the newsroom

          Education:Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
          Experience:The right person for the position will have at least two years experience in a leadership position in TV news.
